Speaker: Gareth Morris

Originally from Oldham, Lancashire, Gareth came to Wheatley, Oxon in 1976 to teach at Oxford College of Further Education. In 2005 he became Clerk to Wheatley Parish Council and retired in 2017. Gareth is a Life Governor of the RNLI for 42 years and is a Volunteer Education Presenter/Water safety Advisor giving talks to various groups and Primary Schools.

Winston Churchill said that the Codebreakers at Bletchley Park were the "geese that laid the golden eggs and never cackled."

Indeed, it wasn't until the 1970s and even the 90s that the role of Bletchley Park started to become revealed. 

The general populous could be forgiven for thinking that Bletchley Park was all about Alan Turing et al and the Enigma Machine, but it was so much more. It was part of a long history of British spy masters and code breakers going back to the first Elizabethan age. 

This talk will give an insight into the work of the thousands of the non-combatants who, indeed, did help win WW2.
