Speaker: John Kinory.

John is a technical translator, formerly photography and physics lecturer. He lives in Oxfordshire and 20 years ago started taking part in local theatre shows and in films and TV dramas. The filming John gets involved in is mostly background/supporting artists work ("extra"), but he also gets quite a few featured parts with dialogue, mainly in training and promotional videos for organisations such as Slimbridge, healthcare bodies and other companies. 

John's talk is illustrated with many slides and printed photos showing the daily experiences of a supporting artist on a film shoot, from the usual early morning call time through to wardrobe and make up, waiting to be called to set, to having lunch. He will cover how one becomes a supporting artist; how payment is made; anecdotes about interesting film locations; meeting the stars; how one is treated by Production, and the great excitement and satisfaction of being part of an incredibly complex production in which dozens or even hundreds of people contribute to the final film - in which the "extras" hope to see themselves eventually on screen, even if for only a second.
