The Art group meets weekly on Thursday from 10am – 12noon in the Methodist Church, Lower Hall.

We are a group of amateur artists who bring our materials and work on our individual projects. The aim of the group is to develop our skills and knowledge in drawing and painting, from the beginner to the more experienced, using various mediums, in an atmosphere of mutual help and encouragement. We enjoy the peace and concentration of our first hour, followed by a refreshment break, which gives us the opportunity to look at each other’s work and have a chat. The time left is for the continuation of our work.

Above all we intend to have a relaxed, interesting morning of creativity and discussing art.

We displayed examples of the works of the Group before and after a recent speaker meeting (see the Art Group Display photos on this page). This body of work has been compiled by several of the Group’s 20-plus members who have worked on them since last September’s Open Day. The collection displayed incorporated a range of topics from portraits to botanical and landscapes in a variety of media.
