We are a group who enjoy armchair acting - no experience required and certainly no memorising of scripts! For some of us our only previous experience was a vague memory of enjoying reading out loud at school, a love of theatregoing in general or wanting to do something a bit more interactive.

We have performed several comedies of manners, some classics and also more recent and edgier works - sometimes full plays, sometimes adaptations of books and occasionally monologues and shorter performance pieces. On the whole, we enjoy comedies a little more than tragedies, but we invariably leave at the end of our monthly meetings feeling uplifted and that our horizons have, in some way, been expanded.

One of the joys of our group is discovering plays we have never heard of and sometimes acting out characters who are much more daring or dastardly than we are ourselves! Even if you are not keen on the sound of your own voice, take it from me that everyone who takes the plunge brings some fresh perspective and often some hidden talents. You never know - there may be a tiny thespian inside of you just waiting to break out…

We meet every second Tuesday at the Methodist Church 2-4pm and all we ask is that you bring enthusiasm and your reading glasses!
